Is any of this for sale

No part of it. This domain has no shop, no basket, no checkout, no figure with a currency symbol anywhere on it, and no path by which money could travel from a reader to the publisher.

Reports and photographs are the entire output. Whatever a reader chooses to do afterwards is arranged elsewhere, and neither the arrangement nor the money passes anywhere near this address.

What kind of business publishes it

A small publishing company. Delyavia Imprint LLC produces one title and its trade is writing and pictures.

It is not an agency, an operator, a reservation platform, a comparison service or anybody's representative. No route is planned for a customer, no group is taken anywhere, and there is no product to buy.

Does any company have a stake in what gets written

Not one. No carrier, hotel group, resort, rental firm, tour business or reservation service holds any relationship with this journal, formal or otherwise.

Nowhere described in a report paid to be described, provided a night, supplied a meal, or knew a writer was coming. Every place named was reached by car, in the cold, at my own expense.

Where does the money come from

Delyavia Imprint LLC covers the work from its own funds and from no second source. There are no affiliate links, no commissions, no sponsored reports, no gifted equipment and no advertising on the site as published.

The position is recorded on the Disclaimer. Any change would appear on the About page and above the opening paragraph of every affected report, and advertising would carry a label from the first day it ran.

Why is everything about winter

Because the cold half of the year does short lived, weather dependent things to a landscape, and because almost nobody is standing in front of them when they happen.

An ice shove lasts about an hour. Rime on a gorge rim needs a particular cold snap. Deep snow on the plateau settles and greys within days. A narrow subject is a subject you can say something useful about, and it puts the work in places at the times they are empty.

Who takes the photographs

The same person who writes the reports, on the trips those reports describe. No contributors, no agency material, no stock imagery anywhere on the site.

Frames get exposure, contrast and colour work like any professional photograph, and they are never combined or moved to another place.

Will you plan my winter trip

That request comes back every year and the answer stays no.

Not from reluctance. A cold season plan depends on a specific week of weather, on which roads are being ploughed, on which gates are locked for the season, and on what you personally are equipped to stand around in. None of that is knowable from an inbox, and a confident answer written from here would be worse than an hour with current local sources. The recorded conditions at the foot of each report are the useful part and they are already published.

Can a photograph be reused

Ask first. Everything here belongs to Delyavia Imprint LLC and none of it carries an open licence. Putting a frame on another site with a credit line is still reuse.

Each request is judged on its own and answered plainly. Short quotations from the writing with a link back need no permission as long as the meaning survives the cut.

Do you publish guest pieces

No. Contributed pieces, paid reports, bought mentions, reciprocal linking and appeals to slip a link into an existing page all get refused, and messages proposing any of them go unanswered.

Is the equipment advice impartial

There is no equipment advice, only descriptions of what one person carries, written generically rather than by brand.

Nothing has been supplied by a manufacturer, nothing has been paid for by one, and unrequested equipment sent to the desk is not reviewed and creates no obligation. Where a note describes boots or gloves it describes a category and a property, not a product.

How often does a report appear

Six to eight times a year. Fieldwork happens between November and March; publication happens whenever the writing and the frames are finished.

Reports normally rest a month or two after the trip, because cold inflates the significance of an experience while you are inside it. What still reads as true once the snow has gone is what ends up printed.

Is the practical detail still accurate

It was accurate on the publication date, which every report carries.

Winter detail ages faster than most. Gates get padlocked between seasons, maintenance on a side road stops, a stairway closes for repairs and does not reopen. Check anything you plan to rely on against a current official source, and tell the desk if something has moved.

What does the site keep about me

As published, no advertising identifier, no analytics package, no third party tracker, no pixel and no embedded widget appears on any page here.

A single entry lands in your browser, noting that the slab at the top of the screen has been answered. Sending a message carries the text you wrote to the mailbox that will reply to it. Both are covered in the Privacy Policy, and the Cookie Policy gives the stored entry by name.

When will a reply arrive

On a morning between Tuesday and Saturday, 8:00 to 11:30 Eastern Time, which is when the desk is open.
